As stressed by Karan, we seriously need to know the dates in advance. I require to give at least a month's notice to my comp. if I have to take an extended leave. Resolve the issues ASAP.
Pesonally it wud be gr8 if Alumni and Backwaters happen at the same time.

Hmm, I think there are a significant number of alumni who would prefer that the Alumni meet not be clubbed with Backwaters for a number of reasons -

- A few alumni - Neel, Addy, Modi - have already booked air tickets from Delhi for the 28th weekend.
- A large number of alumni - upwards of 75 I guess, should be turning up, of which around 30-40 will be from the Class of 2005. It's easier logistically to have it separate from Backwaters in terms of hostels, mess, food, etc. It's gonna be chaos with such a huge crowd, especially since E hostel is no longer empty.
- The party can be held in the mess like regular parties. Last year, because the Backwaters party couldn't have B(this is public space!), we asked most of the alumni to B in B hostel, which is not as much fun.
- Most alumni aren't coming back because of Backwaters, but to see campus, classmates, teachers, have fun and meet the current students - I think there will be more interaction with current students if they're not tied up with Backwaters. We'll have very few current students attending the discussions at the Alumni meet if they're involved with Backwaters.
Basically IIMK can concentrate/dedicate more resources - students, rooms, etc - if the Alumni weekend is held on a separate weekend.

Just my 2 cents. :)

I cannot speak this on behalf of the entire Backwaters committee but on my personal behalf, agree whole-heartedly to Ron here :-)

Having said that, however, all alumni are most welcome during Backwaters and logistical issues or not, we will try our best to make you feel welcome.
